Salad dressings with some creative licence

Heinz, a worldwide leader in ketchup, condiments and sauces, recently selected Creative Licence, a graphic design and brand mentoring company, to design the packaging of their new range of salad dressings.

According to Martina Bogusch, creative director at the design company, “The salad-dressing range is unique in the marketplace - not only is it oil free, it is also a pump spray so you use less, making it a great product for the health-conscious.”

She continues, “We were briefed to keep the new design within the Heinz mother brand. It was important to keep the brand keystone, with the logo positioned on a white background. The idea was to invoke a Mediterranean feel in the design of the labels – since the flavours are Mediterranean, Balsamic and Rosemary & Garlic.”

The Mediterranean feel was created by the use of a subtle background design of a soft, rolling Mediterranean landscape together with warm, rich colours. The aim of this was to reinforce the idea that, although the salad dressing contains no oil, it is still full of flavour.
