Rudeboy Paul breakfasts at YFM

Previously hosted by Pabi Moloi, Thato and Macfarlane, 99.2 YFM’s flagship breakfast show will now be driven by iconic Rudeboy Paul and Sanza da Fanatik, the radio station announced yesterday, Monday, 26 March 2007. This change, as well the rest of the lineup moves, will come into effect on 2 April 2007.

Rudeboy Paul is one of the station’s most seasoned DJs and has already hosted some of the biggest show’s on YFM. Outside of his prolific radio career he is the host of his own very successful TV show on SABC and has two widely acclaimed albums (Azanian Pulse 1 & 2) under his belt.

“Rudeboy Paul is a heavyweight persona who brings a unique blend of street cred, culture and intellect. Complimented with the crazy and fanatical Sanza we strongly believe that our breakfast offering will be engaging, at times controversial and always fun to listen to,” says Bondo Ntuli, YFM head of programming and operations.

The 2007 line up is drawn from the existing pool of talent resident at YFM. As part of the station’s commitment to deliver entertaining, informative and inspiring programming, the weekday and weekend shows strive to further represent these ideals. New shows have also been created as YFM gears itself up towards celebrating its 10th year in October 2007,

The station also welcomes two new names - Lusi Tan and Tholi - who will both occupy the early morning slots.

The afternoon drive will remain the same, fronted by big personalities Chilli M and Dineo. Their show has grown and has accumulated a strong following among the new breed of urban Gauteng youth that aspire to a certain lifestyle, according to YFM.

The following DJs will not form part of the new lineup - Unathi, Adil, Dre, Macfarlane and Tabi. The station wishes them all the best with their future projects.

Concludes Ntuli, “The YFM brand has experienced a meteoric rise to iconic status since its inception nearly 10 ago. As the first authentic voice of black urban youth culture, the station has always been key in identifying young talent and leading trends in the youth market. In keeping with this tradition we are excited to announce changes in our programming that we believe will keep the brand current and resonate with our legion of listeners.”
