Miss Fashion Week Africa (MFWA), the African franchise of the United States based international pageantry which equips youths with becoming international fashion models and growing their modelling careers, has recently appointed a general coordinator for the African continent, as well as regional coordinators for East Africa and Southern Africa. A confirmation statement from the Menes Konsult Limited and Europlaw Limited (the owners of MFWA) states that the appointments take immediate effect and were based on careful search and determination to improve the quality of the brand and position it as the best cross-border platform for models and aspiring models in Africa.
Barrister Tochukwu Uzowulu - General Coordinator
Barrister Tochukwu (Tochi) Uzowulu is a Nigerian lawyer and entrepreneur who deploys her legal knowledge and resources to building the right platform and capacity that would support and enable young African women to be independent, self-sufficient, and leaders in the society. She has served as a consultant to a number of fashion designers and fashion outlets in Africa and the United States and is working to provide international opportunities to African models. She also serves as one of the lead legal counsel for Plant Startup, Inc., a Florida-based global NGO founded by a retired Harvard professor to train, equip, and fund aspiring entrepreneurs all over the world. In addition, she serves as a Director of the NGO, African Youth Congress (AYC), which seeks to train, empower, and connect all African youths to collaborate towards collective benefits of the continent. As the General Coordinator of Miss Fashion Week Africa, she will work directly will Regional Coordinators and also liaise with the owners of Miss Fashion Week Africa and its franchisor in the United States. She will also ensure that each of the regions is complying with all laws as well as rules and regulations of Miss Fashion Week Africa and Miss Fashion Week.
Mr. African Leo - MFWA Coordinator for East Africa
Mr. African Leo is a fashion-conscious Turkish citizen who resides in Uganda and has travelled around many African countries. He is an investor, entrepreneur, and reality-show producer who is keenly interested in the social issues affecting the youths of Africa. In 2017, Mr. Leo was the Chief Judge in the Uganda finals of Miss Fashion Week Africa contest. Over the years, he has devoted efforts to working with the owners and organisers of Miss Fashion Week Africa to ensure smooth and efficient operations of the brand in East Africa. In his new role as the Coordinator of Miss Fashion Week Africa in East Africa, Mr. Leo will work to attract quality contestants, capable sponsors, and also ensure that the auditions, contests, and finals are entertaining, grand, and fulfilling to all participants and sponsors. Among many tasks, he will also coordinate and work with MFWA’s directors in each of the countries of East Africa to organize auditions, final contests, and grand finale of the MFWA pageant.
Mrs. Karien Vorster - MFWA Coordinator for Southern Africa
Mrs. Karien Vorster is a successful South African fashion entrepreneur who has been involved pageantries for many years, including many international fashion shows in South Africa, Miss Universe USA and others. She accumulated years of experience working with a variety of fashion houses, designers, and merchandisers. Mrs. Vorster is passionate about African models and is working to change the African fashion industry. She is providing necessary platforms and tools to enable young African models to achieve confidence, self-worth, respect, and to be successful entrepreneurs nationally and internationally, while at the same time remaining comfortable with their skin-color, weight, ethnicity, and passionate for what they do. She is currently working with a reputable South African boutique to establish an international Fashion Show to showcase African and international designs and provide global outlet and opportunities to designers, models, and other persons in the African fashion industry. As the Coordinator of Miss Fashion Week Africa in Southern Africa, Mrs. Vorster will work to tap into the hugely successful market in Southern Africa and attract quality contestants and partners into the MFWA fold. She will also liaise with the General Coordinator of MFWA as well as with Europlaw Group in South Africa to ensure that the goals and objectives of Miss Fashion Week Africa are well met.
The annual auditions and contests for the crown of Miss Fashion Week Africa is now in progress.
