Radio man for SAARF vice chair

Mike Siluma, whose industry experience spans both print and radio, was unanimously elected vice chairman of the South African Advertising Research Foundation (SAARF) at its AGM last week. Siluma is no stranger to industry bodies and is currently the chairperson of the National Association of Broadcasters' radio committee.

Currently heads up corporate and regulatory affairs at the Kagiso Media Group which owns both 94.2 Jacaranda and East Coast Radio, Siluma, was previously the MD of 94.2 Jacaranda. His years in print include holding the editorship of the Sowetan, and working at The Star, where he was the executive editor.

SAARF's CEO, Dr Paul Haupt, says “Mike has interacted with SAARF since his days at Jacaranda, and has represented the National Association of Broadcasters on the SAARF Board since July last year.

“Over the past few years there has been an intensive discussion between the Radio Committee of the NAB and SAARF on ways and means of improving the RAMS survey, to provide an even more credible currency for radio, while at the same time delivering more value to radio stakeholders. Mike has been intimately involved in these discussions, and I look forward to even greater involvement in SAARF's affairs in his new position as vice chair.”
