Benches donated to Cheesekids' "Colorfest "

Recycling company Extruwood donated three of their outdoor benches produced entirely from 100 percent recycled polyethylene to the Wilhelmina Hoskins Primary School in Riverlea, in support of Cheesekids "Colorfest" Human Rights' Day school painting initiative.

Every child has a right to good education and a significant day like Human Rights' Day ensures South Africans never lose sight of this. Non-profit organisations like Cheesekids for Humanity (Cheesekids) are advocates for child rights and doing their bit to ensure the country has the best interests of children at heart. Human Rights' Day, had nearly 500 South Africans of different backgrounds and ages engaging in School Beautification programmes by painting three schools in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg at the same time.

The initiative, organised to add fun and colour to township schools, reminded the scholars that "every colour matters". Dubbed "Colorfest [sic]" by its promoters, all the volunteers gathered at schools from the various townships of Riverlea, Langa, Nyanga, Mitchelle's Plain and Inanda.

Much-needed community service

Founding member, Shaka Sisulu, said of ColorFest: "it is a platform for volunteers to perform much-needed community service quite easily. Though the Department of Basic Education has a School Beautification programme, it requires us citizens to bring it to life."

Recycler Extruwood came on board to support this worthy cause by donating three of their outdoor benches produced entirely from 100 percent recycled PE (polyethylene), to Wilhelmina Hoskins Primary School in Riverlea. The benches were welcomed by the school and Cheesekids adding that they are a valuable contribution to the school and will ensure the children have ample seating space during their time outside. The benches are incredibly strong and durable, and do not deteriorate in any weather conditions. They are an environmentally sound solution in a time when deforestation is taking on ever-increasing negative connotations.

Cheesekids for Humanity is a non- profit youth organisation fostering volunteerism and community service primarily amongst young and urban South Africans between the ages of 18 and 40. It was founded in 2007 and has provided thousands of young people with a platform to get involved in uplifting local communities and aiding institutions dedicated towards societies most vulnerable.
