Facelift for Afrigator

African social media aggregator Afrigator.com late last week launched its latest upgrade, both cosmetic and functional, in order to increase relevance to the content provided and make the service even easier to access and use.

The changes to www.afrigator.com come hot on the heels of the launch of www.Adgator.co.za, Africa's first blog ad network, which was launched by Afrigator Internet early in November 2008, and are geared at offering visitors more relevant content when they arrive at the site. Previously, the Afrigator home page displayed content aggregated from all over Africa, while the new version will determine which country a reader is visiting from and serve content from that country. Improvements to the search engine and an increased focus on the importance of search mean that readers now have a faster and easier way to find what they're looking for.

Afrigator lays claim to being ‘Africa's Social Media Aggregator', so the aggregation of user generated images and photographs is a logical inclusion to the service.

"Images allow us to communicate the beauty and the harsh reality of Africa as a continent in a striking manner, so it was important for us to include the images being taken by the people on the ground," says Afrigator MD Justin Hartman.

"Continually work on its service"

"The company's strategy is to continually work on its service to ensure that we are appealing and remain the first choice of users. The Afrigator design upgrade moves it in line with the company's progressive attitude and reinforces its African identity. Users of this unique site will be as impressed with the fresh new look as they already are with its genuinely useful service."

Hartman emphasises that at the core of the Afrigator service is the idea that "we're here to provide a service that gives value to both bloggers and readers. The changes we've made were based on what our community told us they wanted to see in the product and we hope that this type of feedback will continue to stream in so that we can build the best service we can."

The redesign of Afrigator.com follows on from the AfriGreater campaign, which asked bloggers to help identify ways in which Afrigator could improve their service.
