Getaway's own Blog Awards

The contribution of bloggers, which last year saw Getaway win the SA Blog Awards' travel category for the second time, has been recognised at Getaway's own Blog Awards. From wildlife and environmental writers to foodie and photographic enthusiasts, more than 160 bloggers contribute to the success of Getaway's website.

Winners were determined by readers' votes, with the overall Blogger of the Year Award going to Lucy Corne, who "attended every beer event in town, visited every microbrewery she could find and judged 101 beers at the Cape Town Festival of Beer - and still managed to blog articulately about it all."

Other award winners include Jan Braai, a regular Getaway blogger; Geoff Spiby (Best Photography Blogger); Scott Ramsay (Best Wildlife Blogger); rhino champion Christie Fynn (The Horny Award) and Natalie Ward (Best Food Blogger).

"The awards were really about celebrating the Getaway bloggers, who toil away on their laptops about their adventures, travels and weekend escapes," commented Getaway web editor Sarah Duff. "We wanted to acknowledge their input, which has allowed us to win the best travel blog award."
