SBF's high school scholarship programme open for entry

Applications are now open for the Students for a Better Future (SBF) High School Scholarship Programme, which enables academically gifted, financially disadvantaged learners to attend some of the best high schools in the Cape Town area. The foundation's annual recruitment is currently taking place where SBF representatives visit primary schools across the Cape Town Metropole, where they meet with the top achieving Grade 6 learners.

SBF scholarships cover tuition fees and provide a stipend for uniform, books, stationery, sports equipment and school trips. Additional financial support is available to assist with transport costs and a small proportion of Scholars stay in the boarding house, based on their individual circumstances. The Foundation also provides both academic and social support, during the Preparatory Programme in Grade 7.

Throughout high school, scholars receive termly academic counselling. Various camps and workshops, as well as university and career planning services, are offered. All scholars take part in community service to reinforce their commitment to giving back to family, community and country.

Requirements

In order to apply for the scholarship, learners must be in grade 6 in 2019, be born on or after 1 January 2007, have achieved at least a 65% aggregate in Grade 5 final results and Grade 6 June results, demonstrate financial need, and stay within 35km of Cape Town's CBD.
