Johannesburg Press Club gets website, new members, events

The Johannesburg Press Club now has an official website, a Facebook page and a Twitter account, following the new committee's drive to revitalise and modernise the club after its election at the AGM in March 2011. It has also posted AGM information onto the website.

Since its election, the committee has organised a media briefing function featuring Human Rights Watch and has issued invitations to 12 networking cultural event outings, an awards function at the Institute for the Advancement of Journalism and a reception hosted by the Italian Ambassador to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Italian unification.

Upcoming events

Planned events include a debate between the three dominant political parties in the upcoming local elections (11 May), a debate on Fracking in the Karoo (25 May), the MTN Golden Lions speaking on its performance (June), and a briefing by SANRAL on the toll roads (June).

Members of the Johannesburg Press Club and their partners are invited by Joburg Theatre chief executive, Bernard Jay, to attend a performance of Dance Of Desire on Thursday 12 May 2011 at 8pm in the Mandela Auditorium, as a networking function.
