Olive oil beauty products from wine estate

The Kloovenburg Wine & Olive Estate has launched a comprehensive range of olive oil-based luxury body products. Careful and thoughtful tweaking of the products by Annalene du Toit has taken place over the past year and the end result is 18 products that range in price from R19 to R71.

Known as the olive-entrepreneur, she has developed the range with cosmetologist James Gibson. Having perfected the olive oil soap herself, with the assistance of James, she then set her sights on developing a body butter, body lotion and shower gel for the range.

"As we worked on these three items my imaginations started to run wild. What about making a body and foot scrub too? Before I knew it we had developed all these products including a hand cream, hand wash, and even a heel balm," she says.

Olive oil - 100% natural

Of the range, Gibson comments, "Olive oil is a 100% natural product and the idea was to assist in developing a range of products that adhere to that 'naturalness'. We wanted to allow the goodness of the olive oil to work its magic with as little interference as possible."

Further inspired by a trip to Grasse - Europe's perfume capital, she created a massage oil, a nail and scalp treatment as well as a body and bath oil.

The next challenge was the packaging, "My idea was always to keep it simple, and to let the products speak for themselves. It had to look appealing, but I didn't want the packing to overwhelm, or for that matter detract from what was important - the products themselves", she comments. "After much trial and error we finally settled on the branding 'Black, White and Silver' formula that you see today, which is sleek and simple yet exudes a subtle sense of panache."
