Nominate the Carling Community Champion

Those living in the Western Cape have been called on to nominate a Carling Black Label community champion. The public will then choose a winner from those nominated, a spokesman for the brand said earlier this week.

The Western Cape hunt for the Carling Black Label community champion is on. To recognise a champion “bra van die Kaap” who is a real man committed to improving his life and those of his community, people from across the Cape can nominate and reward a local hero. A winning champion will be a Western Cape man, 18 or older, who has worked long and hard to accomplish something great in his work or something significant for his community. He may be a deserving community builder, policeman, doctor, neighbour or friend who is a true hero, respected by his community. The public votes to decide the final winner.

Win a trip to Old Trafford

People nominating a hero could stand the chance to be amongst champions by winning, together with their winning nominee, an all-expenses-paid dream trip to Old Trafford football ground to watch the English Premiership League champions in action, as well as a chance to meet the Manchester United players after the game in the players' lounge.

How to nominate your choice

To nominate your choice of community champion, SMS “Carling”, then your name and a short motivation about your hero to 39063 from 20 to 30 July (R2 per SMS). Nominators can listen to Heart 104.9FM from 27 to 30 July to find out who the daily finalists are on the Bokomo Hearty Breakfast Show and the Heart Afternoon Drive Show. Those nominating can win R1500 in cash if their champion is chosen as a finalist.

Once the finalists are chosen, the public can vote via a SMS to 39063 to choose the champion of all champions, and visit www.1049.fm to view profiles on the finalists. The winner will also be announced on Heart FM on Friday, 7 August 2009, at a big celebration on the Heart Afternoon Drive Show. The public can also listen to Heart 104.9FM and watch the press for more details about the campaign and forthcoming opportunities to win one of 10 trips for two to Old Trafford.
