Get techno savvy at the 2005 Media Tech Africa Expo

The 2005 Media Tech Africa Expo, featuring a number of technical highlights for the national and international broadcast, entertainment, audio-visual and corporate communications industries, will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre from 21 to 23 June 2005.

Every two years, for three days, these industries converge to explore the latest solutions available to it, view and evaluate new products in action and learn what its suppliers have in store for improving the production and distribution processes of its content.

A full range of products, from fully digital Outside Broadcast (OB) vans to advanced lighting effects and the highest quality professional audio rigs will be on display. All aspects of the relevant industries from recording through to production will be affected by the latest generation of equipment and tools available at Media Tech Africa 2005.

Simon Robinson, Media Tech Africa director at Thebe Exhibitions formerly known as South Africa RAI, comments: "The raft of high-tech solutions on display at the Expo this year represents future opportunities for the local industries. It is crucial that the South African market keeps up to date with international trends, as the industries are characterised by rapid changes in technology and timely adoption of these solutions drives success and ensures recognition on the global stage."

The strong focus on HD is clearly demonstrated by Sony. On display at this stand will be the Anycast Station Live Content Producer, a briefcase-sized package including all the facilities needed on a mobile content creation platform. The organisation has created a system featuring the sum of its long involvement in AV coupled with expertise in IT integrated into a versatile mobile offering.

In addition to the intriguing technology, the publication Screen Africa will be hosting the fourth Talent and Technology Conference at the Expo to highlight the latest technologies behind the current trends and developments in the broadcast, entertainment, audio visual and corporate communications industries. Screen Africa was judged the Best Business to Business Magazine in the 2004 Sappi Pica awards, and is the leading trade publication for the television, film, commercials and professional equipment industries in Africa today.

Angela van Schalkwyk, Screen Africa editor, says: "The Talent and Technology Conference held at Media Tech Africa will showcase the solutions steering the direction of our industry today. Attendance of this event will provide the local industry with even more value from the expo as a whole as well as the benefit of powerful knowledge to take back to their organisations in preparation for the all-important 2010 World Cup."
