Countdown to consumer wine show

Tuesday 23 – Friday 26 October 2007 is RMB WineX in Sandton, Johannesburg, sponsored by Rand Merchant Bank and partnered by British Airways Comair, Business Day and The Weekender and in association with Talk Radio 702. The wine festival, allegedly the largest in the southern hemisphere, offers wine lovers the opportunity to experience the many Cape wine routes over four days.

As in 2006, visitors will be able to purchase most of the 1500 offerings on show through the Shop@Show retail facility – via Norman Goodfellows – with wines delivered direct to your door.

With the help of the show's cultivar guide, ardent wine tasters can pursue ‘varietal routes' through the vast array of producers. For the less studious, WineX is one of the wine events of the year, where winemakers show off their prize offerings – from award-winning blockbusters to the lesser-known rare wines from boutique cellars and organic producers – within the social buzz of Sandton.

Hand-crafted cheese, olives and olive oils will also be on offer, as well as imported and local wine accessories and glassware.

This year, Corporate Cabs will be on hand to take home visitors who have been less-than-rigorous in following the WineX injuction to "spit, don't swallow." Corporate Cabs is are offering 10% discount to patrons of the wine festival and will have vehicles on standby at the Sandton Convention Centre on each of the four nights.
