ACA, Creative Circle launch Case. magazine

There's a new niche publication in town for the advertising and marketing fraternity. Case., launched yesterday, Tuesday, 1 December 2009, in Saxonwold, Johannesburg, by the Association for Communication and Advertising (ACA) in association with the Creative Circle and Future Publishing, is intended to be the official voice of the profession.

“We aim to showcase the local and international successful case studies of the industry, and tell stories of brands that have done and are still doing well and have been consistent throughout a certain period of time,” Rob McLennan, Creative Circle chairman and Net#work BBDO creative director, told Bizcommmunity.com.

Quarterly publication

McLennan said that Case., a quarterly publication, was created in order to explore the world of advertising and communications by investigating the ever-changing relationship between brands and consumers and grow the relationship between advertisers and marketers.

He added, “It also aims to showcase creativity, embrace the new age media landscape and ultimately to put a case forward for our industry's contribution to business success from the horse's mouth.”

The title's 5000 copies are ready and should be distributed to marketing industry captains and decision makers, including CEOs, MDs, FDs, creative directors and strategic planners, he said, adding that they do not intend to interfere with the editorial team's independence.

Tribute to case studies

“This publication will hopefully be a tribute to case studies that establish that creativity and results sit at the same side of the table,” he pointed out.

Odette Roper, CEO of the ACA, said, “In today's increasingly saturated news environment, the need to be relevant is paramount.

“This magazine will stand out from the myriad media available by providing content that is directly applicable to business leaders across all sectors in South Africa - not just those in the communications space.”

eNews Channel anchor Jeremy Maggs is Case. editor, while Kim Forsyth is the project editor and Richard Lendrum the magazine's publisher.

100% funded

The launch issue, with a happy Mike Schalit from Net#work BBDO on the front cover, has been funded 100% by the ACA, the Creative Circle and Future Publishing.

The first issue's design and layout was done by Ruhan Gudmanz, and contributing writers include Paula Chowles, Andrew Human, Vanessa Pearson, Gareth Richards, Dylan Rogers, Liesl Venter and Lisa Witepski.
