Canal Walk Retail Excellence Awards honour top retailers

Canal Walk CEO Gavin Wood congratulates the owner of The Velvet Cake Co., Jandri van Zyl, on winning Canal Walk’s Retailer of the Year.

The Canal Walk tenants were awarded in various trading categories including the Best Refurbishment, which went to Levi’s, Markham, Mugg & Bean and Skechers. The Best New Store awards were presented to Daniel Wellington, HP Store, Ray-Ban and Relay Jeans.

The title of Canal Walk Retailer of the Year, which is the highest honour of this annual event, was presented to The Velvet Cake Co.'s Jandri Van Zyl, who won a R20,000 travel voucher. Canal Walk CEO Gavin Wood explained that this award is presented based on a number of factors, including overall successful trading, the group’s high level of proactivity and the value that the store adds to Canal Walk Shopping Centre overall.

Canal Walk retailers which were acknowledged as the best in their retail categories included: Adidas Kids, Carlton Hair, Cruise About, Deluxe Laser & Spa, Donut Centre, Fabiani, Footgear, Foschini, Fossil, Green Cross, iStore, Joubert & Monty, La Rocca, Levi's, Nespresso, Nike, Poetry, Shimansky, Spec-Savers, The Scoin Shop, The Velvet Cake Co., Vencasa and Woolworths.

“The Retail Excellence Awards is our opportunity to celebrate, recognise, reward and appreciate our best performing tenants for their exceptional contribution to the success of Canal Walk,” says Wood.
