Kenyan sentiment stable

Consumer confidence remained stable at 101 for Q1'19 - a one point drop compared to the previous quarter - underpinned by declining sentiments across the board.

“Consumer sentiments in Kenya dropped marginally in the first quarter of 2019. However, it is still on the positive side of the scale (a sentiment over 100 is considered positive). The drought conditions, which resulted in price increases also contributed to the slight dampening of the sentiments in Q1. Increasing food prices appears as a top concern and we see Kenyans have adopted a saving mindset over spending.” Nielsen East Africa MD Faith Wanderi
