Global Citizen celebrates Madiba's legacy with music
Global Citizen concluded its Mandela 100 campaign with a music festival at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. A number of local and international musicians, including Beyoncé and Jay Z, graced the stage as thousands of Global Citizens watched on.
Global Citizen also exceeded its goal for commitments of $1bn by seven times with commitments from the World Bank, Vodacom, PEPFAR, Cisco, the government of South Africa and the Motsepe Foundation; these donations alone added $5.4bn on top of projected new commitments.
