Job description

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital
  • Nurture a positive and energetic working environment
  • Manage a pro-active talent management strategy, including recruitment, selection, induction, retention and employee engagement
  • Oversee and manage the company’s performance appraisal system and suggest enhancement to it in order to achieve the performance targets set by the business
  • Maintain the pay plans and benefits programs
  • Assess training needs, suggest viable interventions, monitor success and keep training content relevant to the needs of the business and its people development targets
  • Report to management and provide metrics to support decisions
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout the human resource systems

We are a small but rapidly growing retail operation home to Magents, Blue Collar White Collar and Relabelled - three of South Africa’s most loved clothing brands. We are seeking a talented, energetic National HR Manager who will work with and learn from our experienced Brand Managers.

The brands in our stable have a cult following both locally and internationally and we are poised to leverage their existing success from niche to commercial markets. Your role will be to work closely with the National Operations Manager in making this happen with strategic HR support by providing an service and sound commercial advice on a range of people issues in the various brands.

Requirements

  • Degree in human resources preferable 
  • At least three to five year’s work experience in a similar role
  • People orientated and results driven
  • Knowledge in HR systems and databases
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills
  • Demonstrable experience in human resource metrics
  • Proven experience in handling labour disputes, conciliation, mediations and arbitration
  • Working knowledge of the Seta, grants, levies, learnerships, skills programs and graduate placements
  • Active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
  • In-depth knowledge of SA labour law and HR best practice
  • Enthusiastic and energetic approach to people-related problem solving processes
  • MS Office suite (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Be prepared to travel to the various business areas
