Ubuntu Pathways to host annual gala in Joburg

Internationally recognised model

Ubuntu Pathways is internationally recognised for its model, which provides educational, health, social support to South Africa’s most vulnerable children. The not-for-profit organisation (NPO) is headquartered in Port Elizabeth with satellite offices in New York and London. “The work that we do at Ubuntu is really to be an agent that makes it possible for people to dream, to have hope in their lives,” says Thomas.

Founded by CO Jacob Lief and founder and senior advisor Banks Gwaxula in 1999, the organisation is guided by the South African philosophy of ubuntu, meaning ‘I am because you are’ and believes a child’s circumstances should not dictate their future.

Holistic approach

“At Ubuntu Pathways, everything we do feeds into the holistic well-being of the community. Providing integrated support services requires a long-term investment with a diverse set of solutions to unique challenges. We embark on a journey with those who come to us for help and walk this pathway with them every step of the way, so we can empower them to take control of their future,” concludes Qamngana.
