An opulent view of the Radisson Blu

The Radisson Blu Hotel Sandton is situated in the heart of Johannesburg city's upscale business district - a prime location which is only minutes away from attractions such as Nelson Mandela Square, Sandton City shopping centre and many restaurants.

The welcoming and friendly service from the hotel manager, Paul and his staff started our stay off on a great note. The Radisson Blu Hotel Sandton includes 290 hotel rooms and suites; a spa, fitness facilities such as the Platinum Planet Fitness (complete with and indoor/outdoor jogging track) and a pool with a beautiful sundeck with views of the city skyline.

It’s the small things that count

From the moment you walk into the hotel you can feel that they mean business; from the lounge area with large opulent lighting, to the Vivace restaurant which shows off panoramic views of Sandton. Dinner at Vivace is one to be remembered and appreciated, as the night lights light up the city – you only but admire your view.

After a smooth check-in process, our porter directed us to our room on the eighteenth floor, which also had a spectacular view of the surrounding city. After our flight, we realised our luggage had been sealed, so we called reception and requested a pair of scissors (thinking this would be too much of an effort), but both reception and our porter were more than willing to assist with their brand’s “Yes, I can” attitude, which is a value that the hotel and all its staff live by. Needless to say, we were impressed by the uniformed response and in no time, our porter was at our door willing to assist us with our luggage. It’s the small things that count.

Sandton City view

A warm greeting on the TV screen welcomed us as we entered the room, and I couldn’t help but soak up and adore the view for most of our stay – it showed off Sandton City’s main attractions with a lovely seating area next to the large window (this was by far my favourite place to be).

We then found our way to the rooftop pool on the tenth floor. Throughout our stay, the pool seemed to be a popular place to relax, and you’d be privy to find the same service at the pool as you would throughout the hotel: professional and efficient. With the gym overlooking the pool, I was sure to fit in a workout to experience the Platinum Planet Fitness and its indoor track.

Attention to detail

To end our evening off, we decided to order room service which consisted of bacon, avocado cheese burgers with fries. The flavours were amazing – this is definitely a meal best served to someone with a big appetite – we weren’t disappointed.

Before checking out, we thought it would be more convenient to print our boarding passes at the hotel, so we contacted reception for further assistance. This was no problem and the passes were printed as soon as we arrived for breakfast. At breakfast, we soaked up the view of the city one last time. Vivace offered a super breakfast buffet, complete with fresh fruit, bread and delicious pastries, various cold meats as well as bacon, eggs and omelettes.

The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the service and attitude of the staff members at the Radisson Blu Sandton.
