Brian Daniel, CEO and Country Manager of Pfizer South Africa's Biopharmaceutical Division says: "This is our third year in partnering with SADAG in this initiative which assists them in increasing the awareness of Mental Health, a terrible and debilitating disease. Our 2012/13 awardees had no less than 16 articles published in major newspapers and magazines in South Africa, with the title of Pfizer Mental Health Journalism Awardee opening many doors.
This year, in an exciting new move, we will not only be offering two print journalists (including internet) a stipend of R25,000 per person but Pfizer has contributed a further R25,000 to fund an award to an electronic print journalist from the fields of television and radio.
Entries will be judged by a panel consisting of top names in South African media as well as mental health professionals.
Journalists are not required to leave their employment during their award year and are encouraged to choose timely projects that may educate the public and raise awareness about important mental health concerns.
